Out of the Land of Pizza

As I sit writing this, contemplating whether or not this will be my last blog entry, I am in New York City. Things here will be pretty great, I hope considering I've got some friends, an unlimited metro card and enough curiosity to take me to the far stretches of the island.

Anyway,
My last week in Florence was EPIC. We went out to eat every night, I gave away half of my clothing so I could fit it in my luggage to bring home, and enjoyed the sunshine in town.

Here are the final pictures to show you all, Enjoy!

Nella Vecchia Italia

Hey Ya'll

Not too many pictures this week. Been stuck behind my computer writing essays and trying to get organized to leave! That's right-- just 7 short days until I am officially in America for good.

Over the past two weeks we've had a "Spettacolo" in Italian class. Directly translated that means "show"-- it's a small little terribly organized barely memorized compilation of bad puppet skits, kiddy songs in Italian and english (that's right--folks, I pay to do the Hokey Pokey!) and other ridiculous dances (IE: everyone's favorite bar mitzvah tune-- Cha-Cha Slide and the age old Tarantella) The great part about the whole thing is after our supposedly "one time only" performance at an elementary school two weeks ago-- we had to do it again! But we're not too dumb to not ask for special conditions. My class would only do the show if a)NYU bought us pizza dinner. and B) there was beer there.
They did not disappoint. It was great. a truly bonding moment between our Italian class.
Not that singing "Nella Vecchia Fattoria" on your knees dressed like a pig doesn't do that already. (Old McDonald)

Anyway, this weekend is LONG. Thursday was Italian Labor day-- so no school. We also don't have most classes on Monday except for a few exams. That's called 5 day weekend, folks!
Thursday night Kelly, Dani, Bhargavi and I got a bottle of wine and climbed over on of the Arno's bridges and drank on the "triangle" over looking the nasty river filled with super-being beavers that devour humans. It was a lovely night.

Here are the few pictures I could muster up::
Me, Dan and Bhar on the "triangle"
Dani, on the tip of the triangle!
Kelly's purchases made her this-- a skirt made only of receipts!

Lysistrata; Born.

SO.
Welcome to the special tuesday edition... in honor of the premier of "Lysistrata"... my baby. I know some people are probably dying of curiosity. So I'm here to please. Here are a few still shots... I think I got one from each scene.

The Highlights?
-- Well the house was full, NO RAIN, I apparently impressed my professor enough to get an extension on my paper due tomorrow... and ALL is good in Narnia.
I couldn't give my cast a last speech because I started crying.. I know, who saw THAT coming?? But everyone I talked to afterwards seemed to really like it, and laughed A LOT during the show.. So! A success!! The admin brought out a GIANT spread for the after-party complete with fruits and cheeses and breads and cookies and juice and juice... I was so grateful.

Anyway, enough about that. Here's the good stuff:

Happy Belated Birthday... To Me.

Last weekend seems like ages ago, but Tanti Auguri I'm 19! As Promised my gang and i went to Sicily for the event (It was Dani's Birthday Also) and all in all, the weekend was quite riotous.
We arrived in Sicily off our Ryan Air flight... not knowing really what to expect.
Well what we plopped into was a cushy apartment as our hotel, just blocks from the beach (which was too cold to lay out on :( but thats ok because) we had three bedrooms two bath full kitchen and patio. complete with friendly neighbor we named "Yemen" because that's where he lived before Trapani, Sicily. Yemen gave us lemons and oranges which were SOoo yummy. The Food! Because we had a kitchen we went to the GROCERY STORE and each spent 7 euros for the entire
weekend. Not including the MOST AMAZING pizza concoction any of us had ever had. So we did nothing but relax, sleep read go into a few churches, walk around the tiny little town, drink nutella cappuccinos at our free breakfast cafe and get complimented all on our "Bene l'italiano!" We all decided if Sicily wasn't where Pacino's first wife got blown up by the mob-- we'd totally live there.
Then on Sunday we had LASarah Sunday! To celebrate my birthday. Which was pretty much just a big dance party in our room for like... 5 hours. It was Epic. Just How I wanted it. Kinda like how we went to dinner dressed up too. Solidarity, Kellster!!

This week has been full of disappointments and little sleep. I had an essay due, TONS of rehearsals, legal issues with the play, POSTPONEMENT of the play :(... just for a week though,
on the brightside i think the cast is finally bonding. Better late than never!

Also picked our housing for the next semester! Kelly, Dani and I will be living with 3 other girls on the 17th floor of Lafayette Hall. This means we are surrounded by the NYU greek life... In an apartment with wooden floors, high ceilings and house parties all the time!!! PS: In one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the world. Here's a map.
