Back in the LP

New Year + Old Villa = different plan of action.

Although I don't quite have the picture proof (yet) we're taking on a new approach to all things Narnia. Well, sort of. I won't count how I just bought a candy bar and an espresso to get my blood sugar back up. after my long winter nap.

Anyway, classes have begun and all is good. The professors that I didn't have last semester are as follows:
1) An Italian mother of two from whom I've already learned quite a bit for just 2 hours of class time.
2) An almost retired veteran teacher with a dry sense of humor and a tendency to stray in lecture to tangents that are interesting but completely unrelated. For instance his 5 minute confab about cats and their importance to royalty during a recap of history from 8000 BCE to around 1890 AD.
3) An almost middle-aged russian/newyorker who can't figure out what accent to use and makes me want to crack with hilarity everytime he says "Uuuum" but knows his stuff and its truly entertaining.

Also, as a part of our new year campaign I've gotten out quite a bit already. Our little bunch went out for a truly Italian "Aperitivo" which is kinda like happy hour except classier. It was a great time and we met some nice Italian men trying to pick us up. Guiseppe, I think his name was.
Finally, yesterday proved to be the search of my lifetime. Lindsay and I went into town to get a few books for class, and decided to tag on a trip to EVERY ELECTRONICS STORE IN FLORENCE/EVERY TABACCHI IN FLORENCE to find a pipe (her crazy obsession) and an american style coffee machine. Which apparently either costs €40 (the pipe) or is a brightly colored espresso machine for €279. That's a lot of American dollars. Puh-lease.

And on the most recent front: The kids on campus who decided to go to the "mandatory" meeting with the therapist turned it into a townhall meeting... where we bitched royally about the food. Things are really achanging here on the rock and it is smelling of some seriousssss shit.
